ClimateWise, a global network of insurers, reinsurers, brokers and industry service providers, has announced that Fidelis Insurance Holdings has become a member. ClimateWise is a voluntary initiative facilitated by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. It dates back to 2007, and was formed after Prince Charles called on the insurance industry to offer a more pro-active and collaborative effort to help reduce the risk of climate change. Members commit to act individually and collectively in accordance with the ClimateWise Principles — support climate awareness; incorporate climate change into investment strategies; reduce the environmental impact of the business; report and be accountable. It has focused on addressing the climate-risk protection gap, and the divide between total economic losses and insured losses. A spokesperson for Fidelis says her company is committed to transparency concerning sustainability initiatives, and will follow the recognized industry disclosure standard.
